Advising First-Generation College Students

First-generation students are predicted to be an ever increasing underrepresented population in higher education. As their academic guides and mentors, academic advisors play a pivotal role in fostering the success and well-being of this unique student population. By understanding their unique traits, needs, and challenges, advisors can foster a nurturing environment that empowers these students to overcome barriers and thrive. Join Amanda Heinsman and Paulia D. Williams to learn more about how to support our first-generation students at USC!
