Effective Transitioning from the UAA to the Department

This training will focus on the transition that advisors have to prepare students for once they leave their assigned UAA to be assigned to a departmental faculty or staff member. This training will be discussion based, and have the goal of advisor collaboration, reflection, and best practice tips for helping your students transition to their departmental advisor. This training will be rooted in Appreciative Advising practices, Schlossberg’s Theory of Transition, as well as Kelsey’s Doctoral Study with a research focus on effective advising transitions (Will be able to give you the link to enter here directly to my study in October). This training is ideal for new or veteran advisors that do not hold their students for all four years.

Presenters:
Kelsey Grant, Undergraduate Academic Advisor, Department of Psychology

  • Sara McConville, Coordinator of Advisor Training & Outreach
