Be the Change You Wish to See: Fostering Resiliency in Advising

Resilience is defined as the ability to recover quickly from difficulties and to persevere in the face of adversity. This workshop will focus on strategies to help advisors model the key concepts of resilience and growth mindset to their advisees. This workshop will address common obstacles students face during their matriculation and how advisors can impart resilience strategies early in their advising sessions best avoid these barriers that hinder student success.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Participants will identify 3 resilience-building strategies to incorporate into their advising sessions
  2. Participants will learn how resilience can enhance their emotional well-being, coping skills and convey that message to their advisees
  3. Participants will identify ways to challenge how their advisees view mistakes, utilizing a lens of resilience and growth mindset.
